The Gender Affairs Department of Tuvalu is the lead government agency responsible for promoting gender equality, social inclusion, and the empowerment of women and girls across the nation. We work collaboratively with government ministries, civil society, community leaders, and development partners to advance policies and programs that ensure equal rights, opportunities, and protection for all. Our work is grounded in Tuvaluan values, human rights principles, and a commitment to sustainable national development.

To build a society where women and men, in all their diversity, are recognized as equal partners in all aspects of life and throughout their life course, are protected from all forms of discrimination and violence, and have equal access to and benefit from the development outcomes of Tuvalu. Through inclusive policies, equitable opportunities, and respect for human rights, we envision a nation that thrives on fairness, dignity, and shared prosperity for all its people

Mission

The mission of the Government Gender Affairs Department is to advance gender equality and social inclusion in Tuvalu by fostering an environment where women, men, and all individuals are empowered to participate fully and equitably in the social, economic, and political life of the nation. Through transformative policies, inclusive programs, and strategic partnerships, we strive to:

Eliminate gender-based discrimination and violence.

 Promote equal opportunities in education, health, and employment.

 Strengthen women's leadership and representation in decision-making.

 Enhance the resilience of women and marginalized groups to climate change and other challenges.
